Born in Devon in 1985, Oliver is the 5th generation of Blacksmith in his family business, C H Jones & Son, which was established in 1899. Oliver is one of very few Blacksmiths in the country that comes from such extensive history in the industry originating before the war.
Back then, Iron was the choice of material used and his great great grandfather would also shoe horses. Since then, Blacksmithing and Farriery were separated into two separate disciplines and also the material used changed to steel.
Steel being far harder to work also resulted in some forges closing up shop, however C H Jones & Son continued through.
Today, Oliver who is a qualified Journeyman, specialises in bespoke commissions and artwork with a contemporary edge. The high quality and attention to detail has lead him to compete nationally in the Blacksmith Championships of which he has won multiple 1st and 2nd prizes in the static competitions, including 2018 Dorset Show Champion.
